Although November is officially International Gratitude Month and today is only October 1, we decided to kick off the beginnings of the Bridge of Hope with giving thanks anyway! We hope you don’t mind…
1. We are official! 501c3 check, bank accounts in the U.S. and in Uganda check, first board meeting check…
2. We registered our first kids! In the Wakiso neighborhood of Kampala, 50 children were selected. Parents were informed, forms were signed, and home visits and background checks were completed! Some staff complained about sore feet from all the home visits…but, we just laughed and offered a little African tea. It cures most things, right?
3. We got our first child sponsored! Mastulla Nakimbugwe was blessed to be the first sponsored child in our program. The team delivered the news a few weeks ago. She may have been covered in chicken pox, but we sensed the excitement from her and her family.
4. We have a functioning Saturday Bible Club! Each week around 50-60 kids come to Bible Club. They walk long distances to receive a meal, play with their friends, and hear about Jesus. We also put some sugar in that porridge…
5. We have a great team! We have an amazing team in Uganda and in the U.S. who love kids and love each other. We are excited to partner with YOU and Jesus to do great work!
6. We have office space in Wakiso! Due to some masterful negotiating skills (Can you cut the price of our rent in half?), we secured a lovely home to operate in for the next six months and hopefully beyond! When you see pictures, you may be packing your bags and moving to Uganda…
7. We received a million dollars! Just kidding. We may be a start-up nonprofit and we may be in dire need of funds, but we know the Lord will provide. Find the donate button or PO Box address below – and GIVE! It will go toward many wonderful things: feeding kids at Bible Club, making sure we can pay staff, and helping families in need. You will most definitely get a hug when we see you next…well, you’ll most likely get a hug anyway!
8. We are about to launch our first campaign! It’s called Project 50 and we are super excited about it. We will reveal it sometime this month. Get ready to share it with your friends!
9. We have a following on social media! In almost two months, we amassed 200 likes on Facebook. We are ecstatic about the response and we can’t wait to spread the ministries’ work with more people. If you haven’t liked us yet, go to www.facebook.com/bridgeofhopeafricaministries and like us!
10. We’ve dedicated Fridays to fasting and prayer! Our team believes prayer and listening to the Spirit are key to ministry work. We want to be instruments of Christ and align with the work He has started. We are excited about where the Lord is taking us. Will you join us?
